Fife Family Reunion

Here are some pictures from the Fife Family Reunion, held in Boise July 2010.
There were lots of darling grandchildren in attendance at Errol and Terese's home. Some parents do not want pictures of their children posted on the internet, so I will not put any of the pictures of the little ones on this blog - even though theirs are the cutest pictures. We started at Grandma and Grandpa Fife's home at Spring Creek Assisted Living with a gathering for the adults. Each of Grandma and Grandpa's children and some children-in-law and grandchildren shared memories and feelings . Trevor Eyre sang a beautiful original song for them. Later, we met at Errol and Terese's home for swimming, horseback riding and a BBQ. It was a fun time together! Thanks to Kent and Errol and Craig for organizing this reunion.

90th Birthday Party

Grandpa Fife turned 90 on March 13, 2010. We celebrated with a family party. Thanks to all the in-town children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who came to the party. Grandpa said he wanted $100 for his birthday and he got it! $100 in tens, fives and ones filled his wallet. He as pretty pleased and even slept with his wallet under his pillow that night.

We sang this song to him (to an adapted version of "Froggy Went a Courtin."

Fife was a baby - he was born, uh-huh,
Fife was a baby - he was born, uh-huh,
Nineteen twenty was the year,
Lee and Zenobia gave a cheer.
Fife was a baby -he was born, uh-huh.

Fife was a student - he did go, uh-huh,
Fife was a student - he did go, uh-huh,
Fife was a student - he did go,
To the University of Idaho.
Fife was a student - he did go, uh-huh.

Fife was a soldier - sailed away, uh-huh,
Fife was a soldier - sailed away, uh-huh,
Fife was a soldier - sailed away,
On the USS Nehenta Bay
Fife was a soldier - sailed away, uh-huh.

Fife went a courting - he did ride, uh-huh,
Fife went a courting - he did ride, uh-huh,
Fife went a courting - he did ride,
Brought home Dove Chandler for his bride,
Fife went a courting - he did ride, uh-huh.

Fife was a farmer - he did toil, uh-huh,
Fife was a farmer - he did toil, uh-huh,
Fife was a farmer - he did toil,
Fife made his living from the soil.
Fife was a farmer - he did toil, uh-huh.

Fife was a father - he did raise, uh-huh,
Fife was a father - he did raise, uh-huh,
Fife was a father - he did raise,
Eight children who now sing his praise.
Fife was a father - he did raise, uh-huh.

Fife had a birthday - ninety years, uh-huh,

Fife had a birthday - ninety years,
He's lived well through the joys and tears,
Fife had a birthday - ninety years, uh-huh.
Another piece of news concerning Grandma and Grandpa Fife is that they are moving into an assisted living home near our home. We will complete their move tomorrow (3/22.) The facility is called Spring Creek, it is just opening so it's brand new and very nice. It is only a mile and a half from the Hunt home - closer to Becky and Errol's homes. It is on Overland Rd. about 1/4 of a mile east of Five Mile on the south side of the road. They will be in room 2. Their new phone number is #639-7021. Their apartment has a bedroom, living room and bathroom. We think they will be very comfortable there and they will be in a place where their needs can be better met - especially as those needs increase, as they are doing now. We plan to continue to be very involved in their lives, with lots of visits, etc. We hope that all of the second generation will do the same and visit them in their new home. We appreciate everything you do to include them in your lives.

Another Grandchild visit

I forgot to add Stephen and Tara's visit to my last blog entry. They were here for Odessa's fourth birthday party on November 27th. Grandma and Grandpa enjoyed the party. The party had a "dog" theme. It was fun to watch the children play dog games.

Birthday parties at Grandma and Grandpa's house are a great way to involve them in the great-grandkids lives. Please let me know if that idea is appealing to you. We would be excited to host the party! Nancy

More visits from Grandchildren

Shayne and Heidi visited Grandma and Grandpa at Thanksgiving time. Ethan was lucky
enough to come along!

Ryan and Audra brought their adorable little
Lilly over to visit. Lilly was quite entertaining.

Sarah and Austin (Emily's children) got to visit Grandma and Grandpa while Grandpa was at Aspen Rehab last summer.

Becky's whole family came over and caroled to Grandma and Grandpa during the week before Christmas. I did not get a picture of this visit. I missed getting pictures of other grandchildren who have visited as well. Sorry about my inconsistant photography. Please remind me to use the camera when you are here!

James and Jolynn, Jordynn and Gideon and Chad and Julie visited Christmas Day for a Swedish Smogesboard Christmas dinner. It was pretty good food!

Thanks for the visits! Please keep coming. You really help to break up long days and brighten the evening hours for Grandma and Grandpa.

PS.
One of you need to show me how to layout the text and pictures of a blog entry. I get it to look alright on the composition page, but when it actually posts, everything gets mixed up. Help!
